Face to Face or Online Training?

Your life is busy, your training shouldn’t have to hold back your business. GSES training is mostly online, and is self- paced. This means you can enrol anytime and set your own learning schedule!

We find electricians and engineers can’t always afford to take a week off from work or their own training. Our Design Only courses are 100% online, and self -paced.

Electricians in Design & Install or Install Only courses also attend a 3-day practical component in Western Sydney. Watch the video for more information.

What is the Solar Industry like?

Our new web series Behind the Switch brings insight for people wanting to enter the solar industry. We interview local electricians and engineers on their job, training and career pathways.

Episode 1: TCA Electrical- Tommy and Simon are some funny electricians who have just started online solar training with GSES.

Episode 2: (Coming soon) Gabriel is a CEC Accredited Engineer working in commercial solar with come unique projects.

Licensed Electricians and Senior Apprentices

I’m starting my solar career

Grid Connected Solar Course for clean energy council accreditation

We recommend starting with Grid Connected PV Systems Design and Install. This course is our most popular and the foundation for your solar career of which further training can be built upon. Australian licensed electricians & apprentices with Units of Competency UEENEEE104A, UEENEEE137A, UEENEEG103A, and UEENEEE108A or UEENEEG106A are eligible to take the course.

Stand Alone Power Course for clean energy council accreditation

If you are only interested in off grid solar systems, our Stand Alone Power Systems Design and Install can be taken in the full course variant without having other accreditations. If you plan to work on grid connected systems at some point, we recommend you start with the Grid-Connected Design and Install course.

I already have at least one Clean Energy Council Accreditation

If you have already completed a Grid Connected Install Only or Grid Connected Design Only you can complete your grid connect accreditation by taking the complimentary course, or continue on the path.

The next step is Battery Storage Systems for Grid Connected PV Systems Design & Install. You can also take the Design Only or Install Only to match your Grid Connected accreditations. Contact us if you already have an older Stand Alone Power Systems endorsement, and require a bridging course.

The last, and most challenging step is your Stand Alone Power Systems Design & Install course. Note that the practical components are only run twice per year. There are 2 shortened variants of this course depending on which accreditation you already have. You can also take Design Only or Install only to match your current accreditations.

Engineers and Engineering Technologists

Grid Connected Design Course for clean energy council accreditation

We recommend starting with Grid Connected PV Systems Design Only. This course is our most popular and the foundation for your solar career of which further training can be built upon. Washington Accord recognised electrical engineers can enrol straight away. Engineers from a non-electrical discipline will need to take the Electrical Basics examination.

Electrical Basics Exam for engineers for clean energy council accreditation

The Electrical Basics Exam allows us to offer an accreditation pathway for non-electrical engineers. This 50 question exam is “open book” and tests your existing electrical knowledge. We highly recommend taking this exam first.

If you are only interested in off grid solar systems, our Stand Alone Power Systems Design Only can be taken in the full course variant without having other accreditations. If you plan to work on grid connected systems at some point, we recommend you start there.
