On 26 June 2014, GSES engineers Chris Martell and Aaron Bonanno travelled to chilly yet friendly Mittagong to present a seminar for the regional group of Engineers Australia.

The Sydney Southern Tablelands and Highlands Regional Group of Engineers Australia have chosen to focus on Sustainable Engineering in their monthly seminars this year (the full list of seminars can be viewed on the group’s website). Given GSES’ background and global reach, the company is well placed to comment on the current renewable energy sector. This seminar gave GSES the opportunity to learn about regional perspectives on renewable energy and how people see the future.

Chris and Aaron gave a presentation on Renewable Energy Industry Overview to a packed room of electrical, mechanical and mining engineers (the presentation slides can be viewed here). They discussed the current state of the renewable energy sector, their perspectives on current and future energy policy and technologies, both globally and locally, and the impacts that changes will have on national industries from both a technological and a market point of view. The seminar also gave engineers not already familiar with this sector the opportunity to hear what is happening and how renewable energy is influencing current energy markets and industries. Attendees were surprised and excited by some of the prospects the renewable energy sector offers Australian industries.
