There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but it is assumed that learners have existing knowledge of grid-connected PV and battery systems. They may have completed a Grid-Connected PV Systems and a Grid-Connected Battery Systems course, hold corresponding SAA accreditation, or have applicable industry experience across residential and commercial systems.

This module covers the structural and civil engineering disciplines that intersect with C&I solar design. You’ll work through rooftop and ground-mounted mounting strategies, thermal movement and corrosion, fire stopping, structural certification, and the civil requirements around trenching, conduits, and equipment foundations.

This course covers the following topics:

1. Roof Types and Mounting Strategies
2. Ground-Mounted and Carpark Systems
3. Expansion Joints, Thermal Movement, Corrosion and Fixings
4. Fire Stopping and Penetrations
5. Structural Certification, Wind Actions and Load Paths
6. Trenching, Underground Services and DBYD
7. Conduits, Foundations and Equipment Plinths

Learners will receive a GSES certificate of completion stating they have completed the ‘Commercial & Industrial Solar and BESS Series, Module 4: Additional Engineering Coordination’ course. This course is eligible for 20 CPD points with the Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA).

A computer, laptop, table, or phone with reliable internet access is required.
