GSES Delivers Solar Masterclass in Manila for New Energy Academy

We’re excited to share that GSES recently travelled to Manila, Philippines, to deliver a two-day advanced solar masterclass for New Energy Academy (NEA), one of the Philippines’ leading solar training providers. The event, part of NEA’s Training Partner Development Programme (TPDP), brought together solar training partners from across the country for an intensive programme of technical masterclasses and collaborative workshops.

Day 1: Deep Technical Dives

GSES, led by the training team’s Cody Hancock and Muktaparna Boruah, held a full day of high-level technical masterclasses for NEA’s training partners. Sessions covered some of the most in-demand topics in modern solar system design and emerging technologies:

  • Grid Integration Technologies & Setbacks
  • Advanced PV System Design & Optimisation
  • PVSyst Design Training
  • Introduction to Floating PV
  • Introduction to Agrivoltaics

The sessions generated significant enthusiasm, with participants actively engaging in discussions and bringing their real-world project challenges to the table. It was a fantastic reminder of just how rapidly the Philippine solar sector is developing and how hungry industry professionals are for advanced, practical knowledge.

Day 2: Building the Training Partners Network

Day 2 shifted focus from technical content to the bigger picture: standardising and systematising solar education across the Philippines. Workshops were designed to activate and strengthen the NEA Training Partners Network, with sessions including:

  • Collaborative Curriculum Review: partners contributed direct insights into the face-to-face training programme, sharing best practices and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Shared Vision & Values Workshops: mixed-group brainstorming sessions helped partners align on a unified direction for the network and its graduates.
  • Solar Manifesto Activity: each participant wrote their personal commitment to the network, cementing a shared sense of purpose.
  • Facility Benchmarking Tour at EcoSolutions Philippines: an exclusive look at a best-practice training facility, providing a model for training centres across the country.

The day culminated in the formation of working groups to continue developing the training partner community. This is a meaningful step toward ensuring that whether a learner trains anywhere in the country, they receive the same world-class education.

About Our Partnership with New Energy Academy

New Energy Academy is one of Southeast Asia’s leading solar training organisations, dedicated to elevating the quality and consistency of solar education across the Philippines. This event also marked a special milestone: the celebration of NEA’s five years of operation and the impact they’ve had on the Philippine solar workforce.

GSES is proud to support NEA’s mission to standardise and professionalise solar training across the region. Events like this reinforce our shared belief that quality education is the foundation of a safe, skilled, and thriving solar industry anywhere in the world.
