ABOUT THIS PROJECT

GSES was hired to provide technical consulting services for the design of ten standalone power systems in PNG. The scope of works included site assessments, technical system design specifications, tender writing and tender evaluation services to PNG Power Limited(PPL). Each of the ten sites across PNG were a government administrated areas including schools, government administration buildings, hospitals and aid clinics. Each site was to be assessed for system design, logistics, feasibility and sustainability.

GSES conducted a three week site assessment of ten remote island sites in the PNG provinces of; East New Britain, East Sepik, Madang, Manus, Oro, Bougainville and New Ireland. All sites were located on remote islands often an hours or more boat ride from the nearest town. The site assessment outlined loads, energy use patterns, logistics, sustainability issues and design options.

Tender preparation involved three stages, preliminary system design, preparation of the technical specification, incorporation of technical, financial and legal, specifications into tender document.
