Introduction to Installation Best Practices
This is an extension course developed principally for engineers, CEC accredited designers or those who hold equivalent basic electrical units and wish to get hands on experience of grid connected photovoltaic system installation. This is a one day, face to face, non-accredited training course to allow participants to experience a real installation.
This course comprises a short introductory session on site considerations, followed by a hands on practical session to install a real system (de-energized). You will be trained by a CEC accredited, licensed electrician with many years of experience in Solar Industry. This course will give you an insight of all the things required to carry out an actual installation, commissioning, testing and basic fault finding.
This course will be held at the GSES Training Facility in Sydney.
NOTE: All practical sessions subject to minimum numbers, GSES will give appropriate notice to any changes
GSES will publish the next set of training dates once there is sufficient interest. Please click here to express your interest in attending.
While there are no formal prerequisites for the course, we advise you to have;
|Familiarity with Work Health and Safety||The course will provide a site relevant overview|
|Knowledge of basic electrical units||This will not be taught in the course|
|Familiarity of standards such as AS/NZS 5033:2014||This will be discussed during the installation, but not taught.|
Alternatively you can enrol in GSES GCPV Design Only course then participate in this extension course.
NOTE: The bulk of the practical installation is performed on de-energised (not live) system components. As this will ultimately be an energised system, any Low Voltage electrical installation work can only be done by a licensed electrician, however once Low Voltage electrical work is complete, non-electricians will then participate in the remainder of the practical training.
